I write special stories for several sections of the newspaper. I contribute book reviews and write a column for the edit page called 'Gingerly Yours'. I look after a section called Glamour. Previously I used to look after a section called Sunday Metro. My interests include women's lives, environment, culture and humour.

I have been recently granted a fellowship under the Sunderbans without Borders project in association with The Third Pole to work on stories on environment and gender in the Sunderbans. I won the Laadli award in 2011 for the best investigative story in English.

In 2002, I covered the Gujarat riots. I have written a book called 'Lov La and Other Puzzles', based on a column called 'Sex and the City' that I wrote previously for the newspaper. I am one of the translators of Sabitri Roy's 'Paka Dhaner Gaan', which was translated into English and published by Stree. Currently I am editing an English translation of a collection of off-mainstream Bengali short stories from the Seventies till the present day.

I was a founder-member of Blithe Spirits, a P.G. Wodehouse club
