After graduating from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC),New Delhi in 2011-12, I joined Hindustan Times in Chandigarh briefly as a reporter doing city beats. With The Indian Express since 2012 at Ludhiana (Punjab), I write on school education, gender issues, art and culture, Sikh diaspora, heritage, environment, societies and other Punjab issues. My specific interest and strength lies in writing news features and descriptive stories, explaining the issues in a broader perspective and exploring human interest angles. I enjoy highlighting stories of people and their lives through my reportage. Some of my most interesting stories have come from government schools in Punjab, gender issues and Sikh diaspora. I have also tried to explore subjects like India-Pakistan relations, the legacy of Partition, sanitary hygiene issues faced by women especially girls in government schools coming from economically weaker sections, education of slum children and Punjabi practises like ‘langar’ and their impact worldwide. I also write about films and theatre occasionally. My hobbies include reading, traveling and clicking photographs for my social media accounts. I see social media as a powerful medium to express but feel it is being misused widely.
